Early Season Steelhead

I will have to go through my journals to find the earliest date that I've caught a Lake Erie steelhead, but I'm pretty sure that it's mid-September. According to these reports the first runs have already started. It's hard to believe considering the temperature has been in the high 80s the last few days, but I generally believe web reports. Call me gullible, but why lie about such things?

Rain is in the forecast with low temperatures in the 50s for the next few days, so I'm going to guess that the first runs will pick up some over the next 10 days. The fishing won't be great, but if the calendar permits, it may be worth going exploring in the not too distant future.
