The thaw that started last week ended today, and in the process wiped all of the snow (both black and white). Now the question is will the rivers ice up again once the water levels drop?
February can be a great time to hit the rivers. It's still cold so the crowds are thinner. If the water is warming the fish can be aggressive as they move into the spawning zone. My guess is there will be some small streams fished hard this weekend. It's not clear yet whether the schedule will permit a trek to one of those streams. It doesn't look like the Rocky will be fishable before Monday/Tuesday and by then it may be slush city.
It's been more than a month since the rivers here were fishable. Rarely do we go two months int he winter without fishing. This better not be one of those years. I'm starting to go stir crazy...
